This website is built to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium.
How the site is built
Measures
- Structure: every page has a skip link, landmarks, one main heading and headings in order.
- Keyboard: every menu, link, button and form field works from the keyboard, with a visible focus outline.
- Colour contrast: text meets 4.5:1 against its background; focus outlines and controls meet 3:1.
- Images: pictures that carry information have text alternatives; decorative pictures are hidden from screen readers.
- Motion: background videos have no sound and carry no information. The Pause background video button stops them on every page and the choice is remembered. The pathologist carousel has its own Pause button and stops when you hover over it, focus on it or swipe it.
- Forms: every field has a label, required fields are marked, and errors are named next to the field.
- Zoom and phones: pages reflow at 400% zoom and on small screens without sideways scrolling.
Each page is tested with automated WCAG checks (axe-core) at desktop and phone widths, and by keyboard.
Accessibility toolbar
The UserWay toolbar (the accessibility button on each page) adds display options such as larger text, higher contrast, readable fonts and a screen reader. It is an extra aid; the site is built to be accessible without it.
Known limitations
- Some PDF documents (brochures and forms) were made before this website and may not be fully accessible. On request, SaraPath provides their content in another format.
- Linked services run by other companies (the patient portal, online payment, SPLink, Indeed, Google Maps) are outside SaraPath's control and follow their own accessibility policies.
